Jesuit Ruins
A short ferry ride across the river brought us to Colonia, Uruguay. Starting at a Jesuit Mission Site, we began to explore the history of Uruguay and enjoy the beautiful landscape around us. There was a plethora of artifacts in a small museum just beside a huge, aging building that was originally built as a church where Jesuits would practice their religion when they first arrived in Uruguay. Surrounding the interesting, historical architectures was beautiful scenery; at times the landscape looked too delightful to be real! Rolling plains of healthy grass, brilliantly bright flowers, and fantastic trees were all around! With the smell of oranges filling the air, we had the opportunity to run around in a field of tall grass and climb trees near a cute cow. It was a great afternoon of enjoying nature, which later followed adventures around the bay. I can definitely say Uruguay was a wonderful place to visit, and an amazing place to explore with excitement!
